Fishbowl

Watch third grade students learn how to ask clarifying questions in academic conversations. One student joins me to fishbowl for the other students, modeling asking clarifying questions using sentence frames. In the end, I summarize the main teaching points and reviewed the talking moves that happened in the conversation.

Writer's Workshop Mini-lesson

Kindergarten students discovered that writing partners can help us have more ideas for writing by asking questions. I modeled how I can add more to my story after hearing questions from my "writing partners".

My third grade co-teacher and I modeled how to write informational paragraphs about animals. I did the thinking (and writing) aloud, while my co-teacher pointed out important writing moves she noticed.
