Leading Change

I have been fortunate to take the lead on some important initiatives at our school, from adopting the WIDA framework in 2016 to co-facilitating a research and design team focused on a language rich environment. I bring excitement, passion, and a positive attitude to school-wide initiatives. One of my favorite words that I learned through WIDA professional development is "probletunities". You can focus on the problem, or you can see opportunity to grow and change. I will always see opportunity.  I never stop learning, and love collaborating and discussing the latest research in education. Here are a few examples of how I have had an impact in the last seven years.

WIDA AASSA Panel

I was asked by Jon Nordmeyer to participate in a WIDA panel at AASSA in 2017. I shared the work that the ELL department at CMS had done to roll out the WIDA framework.

WIDA Focus School

CMS was asked to be a WIDA Focus school to share our work on co-teaching and collaborating between the ELL teachers and the classroom teachers. It was an honor have the opportunity to write about our journey so far

Tri-Association Presentation

In September 2018 I had the opportunity to present the work of the language rich environment research and design team at Carol Morgan School, of which I was a co-facilitator.  We shared how the research and design team format can help transform education, and attendees left with an action plan on how they could help facilitate change at their school.

In October 2017 the Optimal Learning Center director and myself presented our work on data collection, and shared the tools that we use to track data through the elementary school.
